I have a 9800 pro, 512 mb of RAM, and a 1.67 GHz processor, but it seems other ppl with the same specs almost are recomended everything at high??? All of my stuff was recomended at medium, im a little low on my ati driver right now so im installing the newest one but could that make a difference?:confused:

It may... It should run Hl2 fine at medium or even high settings. Your processor is the only thing holding it back. you can get 2.4ghz processors for $125.

You'll get around 50fps on the reccomended settings, i say you leave it like that.

Im not sure of my FPS. I don't know the in-game console command for FPS, but I have similar specs and can run HL2 great on medium!

yea, but it just seems that other ppl i know are recomended at high, but whatever...OK hers a good question, should i upgrade my RAM To 1 gig 1st or upgrade my processor first???Also i thought buying a new processor meant gettn a new motherboard probably..or am i wrong?

I have a similar spec, only I have a 2Ghz AMD Athlon Xp and a GeForce 4 Ti4200. I managed to run everything fairly high (most settings on high, one or two on medium, in 1024 x 768 resolution -- no AA or ASF though) with no slowdown whatsoever, except for slow load times and jerky game play for a few seconds after a load. HL2 must have one of the most efficient game engines ever created...

wow! I may look at getting this game then before i upgrade my comp:naughty:. Yes the doom 3 engine looked cool but it took a ton of power to get it to run good. One of the worst engines though is the C&C generals ZH engine. People with 9800pros can't run it well even at medium with more than 2 AI:lol:. i herd that STALKER's engine will run with vodoo card:o.

so you were recomended at high? i was just recomended at medium... but could i cahnge some settings to high, with ati 9800 pro, 1.67 GHz, and 512 RAM
