I have a P4 1.7 ghz, 512mb ram, GeForce FX 5200 and I run the game on 800x600, every options on high except for water reflection, no AA, no AA and I get pretty good result.

Sometimes there are slowdowns(in big outside areas), but there's nothing there that can keep me from fully enjoying this incredible game.

BTW, what thing should I upgrade for less slowdowns, Ram or my Video Card... which one is more important.

yes stalker will run on low vid cards but it is recommened that you upgrade to enjoy it

so if you plan on enjoying that game then why not upgrade the vid card you have now and enjoy both games for what they are worth.

It depends on your old motherboard, check out on wich FSP runs your motherboard, if it only runs 400mhz or 533mhz processor than you'll need to buy a 533mhz processor or buy a new motherboard.

Most processor are now made with 800 mhz FSB. Check out if your mobo supports it.

Anyway, I think you can still get cheap 2.4 ghz processor running at 533mhz.

On your motherboard box, or type your complete motherboard name on Google and you'll find out.

Pethegreatwow! I may look at getting this game then before i upgrade my comp:naughty:. Yes the doom 3 engine looked cool but it took a ton of power to get it to run good. One of the worst engines though is the C&C generals ZH engine. People with 9800pros can't run it well even at medium with more than 2 AI:lol:. i herd that STALKER's engine will run with vodoo card:o.

Yeah, I wasn't going to get HL2 until my new computer is finished (I want to have plenty of money left over to pay bills and what-not, so when I've sold my old car I'll have about Ā£3,000, a nice safety net). When I played HL1 a crappy computer soiled my experience, and I was determined not to let it happen the second time around. But I thought I'd get it anyway and try it out; if it sucked, I'd wait, if it was OK, I'd play it. And boy was it OK... just make sure y'all have the newest drivers, to get the most juice you can out of your old kit. I didn't bother trying it until I'd updated, so I can't say what it would be like if you didn't. Even without AA and ASF it's more beautiful than any other game I've played. And runs smoother than some ugly ones. Doom 3 I'm not particularly bothered about; most sources say what I said it would be, a pointless, random shooter. Fun for rainy days I suppose, but nothing to really soil myself about. I've heard that D3 is a very demanding engine though, probably nowhere near as efficient as HL2's engine -- I won't be risking an overload, anyway. And you're right about C&CG: CZ. That got me annoyed; I could either play one hard AI, two medium AI or several easy AI. Oh, at a guess I would say that you should upgrade your graphics card and RAM first. A 1.7Ghz processor should easily cover it, I would imagine, although I would look for a professional benchmark before committing to anything.

lol is there a place in some file somweher that says the name of my motherboard or do i gotta take off my case and look for whatever knows what.

Whether you bought it pre-built or custom-made it, you should really have some documentation somewhere that lists exactly what's inside, if not a motherboard manual. If not, it should tell you on the POST screen or, if not there, the BIOS.
