So, I want buy HL2 + CS:S + HL2: DM, but I have one question. It's so stupid, but important for me. If I'll install HL2, CS:S, HL2:DM, I will need to have DVD with those games inside my driver? It require DVD disc with those games (while I'm playing)?

Sorry for my English.

Yes, you need a DVD drive to run DVD-roms

If you mean a CD (or DVD) Check, no. You will need to use the DVD (or CD or whatever) drive to install the games, and install Steam (which requires an internet connection). But after that to play the games no, it's like having all Valve related games in one list, play them without getting you case out and putting the DVD in.

That's not a stupid question, quite a few people don't like CD-Checks, some hate 'em. If you want HL2 and CS:S, I would recommend getting Half-Life 2 GOTY edition. You get HL2, HL2 Deathmatch, CS:S, and a few others. Your English isn't that bad.

Also, after you have installed them, you never need the disk again, since steam will let you download the game anytime you want, once you register the cd key. Anywhere you have steam, you can install it from the internet.

He's right. :agreed And in fact, I don't think that you even need the disk at all. It would be faster to use the disk though, but all you need is the CD key, then you own the game. after that, you can just pop in the disk and install, but if you somehow broke the CD or lost it, Steam says that you own the game so you could just download a new one right off of Steam.

Indeed, you can preload games without even having them purchased and then just use the key to buy them on Steam, or the other way around. The disc is only nececary if you want to play the game online without use of Steam (you still need to connect once to decript the files).

One more question. Now I've installed Steam on my computer and I have account. When I'll get HL2 GOTW can I just "Activate a product on Steam" in "Store" section (and write cd-key from box), and will I be able to download game without normal installing form CD/DVD?
