Dells? buwahahaha. Alienware is for people who can't build their own gaming machine and who like to overpay for things. Build your own., cheaper and better. Stay far away from a Dell please.
I just spent: 200$ 939 pin amd 64 3000 115 $ soltek 939 pin pro mobo 50 $ on a 80 gig hd w 8mb cache. 230 $ radeon 9800 pro (HIS Iced) 10 $ on 4 blue led fans, 30$ on a nice heatsink 10$ on a green cold cathode and 20$ on a side panel with a window for my case. Im poor now, but it was money well spent. Hl2 and doom 3 run great on my system. b4 with my amd xp 2000 and geforce 4 ti4400 doom 3 barley ran, and my comp crashed all the time. Plus i do 3d modeling and my system can now handle just about anything i throw at it. (unless i do something stupid like put 5 iterations on a model with 3000 polygons ... XD Anyhow .. i suggest you go with AMD 939 pin line. and make sure you have good ram! ... my ram sux ass ! its holding back the rest of my system ... the only unstable part on my machine. BTW .. a friend of mine ( he is stupid ) went out and bought a 3700$ Alienware .... And my computer (including all the parts i have ever bought for my system (im talken like 2 mobos / cpu/s 3 gfx cards. 4 peices of ram, 2 HDs STill doesnt come out to 3700$ and my system is way better than his ... he got a p4 3.0 with a radeon 9600 xt 512 mb ram. Alienware is for people who dont know anything bout computers.... go to www.newegg.com check out their prices on computer parts ... you can buy an insanly bad ass system for 2k .... shit for 3k i could probly put together a dual pci express system with 2 x800's 1 gig xms xl ram, fx 64 cpu, with 2 10,000rpm raptors striped together, a nice case, and a good psu. I spent almost 600$ and bought almost a whole new system... if i had an additional 400$ i could have gotten an x800 and a gig of xms xl ram.
ok ill try that I was recently thinking about a Aleinware PC because Im not very good at building my own lol :( I would like to have an AMD
Send me the money, and ill build it for you, and buy it for you... hell, just cause im so nice i'll even keep it for you.
Nah but seriously, $3000 USD is ALOT of money for a computer. Spend about $2000 and you can buy a MAJOR rig. Think of it this way.
Keep the monitor, keep the CD rom, (dvd if you have it), basically everything else goes. Now this is what you need/want.
1. Graphics card - If you wish to upgrade, your radeon is poweful enough for now. 2. Processor - $300 or more on this, Get something decent like an Athlon 3500 + or better 3. Memory - Atleast 1gb of high speed ram, when i upgrade im only getting 512, but ill upgrade with another stick a few weeks later. PC3200 DDR400. 4. Motherboard - 939 Processor Compatable 5. Case - A thermaltake or antec, something along them lines. 6. Water Cooling - This will keep ur rig running cool and long :)
BiLe88 Plus i do 3d modeling and my system can now handle just about anything i throw at it. (unless i do something stupid like put 5 iterations on a model with 3000 polygons ... XD
You's a modeler? :O me too :) What area do you specialise in, weapons, people or vehicles (I do a bit of vehicles, mostly guns.)
I model People, Anime characters.
sometimes i model weapons ... but usually stick to people / characters anything my grubby lil imagination can pull out of thin air (or what im told to do in some cases.) here is some of my work. http://www.img-host.info/imgs/1294_Lighting%20is%20cool.jpeg i made this a few days ago. :) 939 pin is a great line, its gonna stay fora while. if you have 2k you want to spend, you should go with a dual pci express mobo i believe ECS has a 939 pin dual pci express mobo out or coming out for like 130$ or something. get an amd 64 3500 or higher, and pick up a pci express x800 you could proly get away with : 130 $ mobo 500$ GFX card 300$ ram 100-200$ HD 300$ cpu Water cooling is really great but you can spend anywere up to 300$ and higher on them i bought a 30 $ heatsink and i stay at like 36 degrees which aint bad. only go with water cooling if your gonna over clock, or just have tons of money to throw at it. If you dont want to spend more than 1000$ then go with : -939 pin 8x agp mobo (your choice which, they are all gonna be around 120$) i like my soltek personally, it looks good and is rock stable, not too great for OC'in tho ... even tho it is supposed to be) -939 pin AMD 64 3500 300$ -1 gig XMS XL ram 250-300$ -80 gig HD w/ 8mb cache - 50-60 $ Everything depends on a budget. If youve go 3k to front then go Dual PCI express with 2 x800's or 2 6800gt's 1000$ (500$ a card) with 939 pin fx cpu 800$ -1 gig or more of xms xl around 300$ -2 70 gig western digital Raptor 10,000 rpm Hd's and stripe them together. (we'll say 400 to be safe) -raid card if your mobo doesnt come with one -100$ Dual pci express 939 pin ddr400 mobo - (we'll say 150 to be safe) that comes right about to 2750$ spend the rest of your 3k on a new case / psu and heatsink. 150$ for a premodded case w/ 500 watt PSU, 50 $ good heatsink or 100$ on a really basic water cooler. Happy spending :) (this is all estimates you can check the accuracy on newegg.com)
ok i bought 1 gig of ram a AMD processor and a new motherboard and a new case I post a pic when its done if you want thanks alot people :bows: :D ;)
