I am running a Geforce 4 mx420 on a 1.3 ghz, so I didnt get any of the special HDR crap. But if it were not for the explination of it being a "tech demo", I would call it a piece of sh*t and not even give it the 300 mbs it requires for hard drive space.

Everybody knew from the outset that it would require a high-performance PC. Valve couldn't possibly make a technical demo to show off the abilities of the Source engine if it had to be designed around old computers, like HL2 was. Which is why they didn't make it a significant add-on to the HL saga -- it wouldn't be fair on those with lesser-spec computers. It's hardly Valve's fault that you are running it on a Geforce 4 MX. Those things were obsolete when they were released, being as they are based on GF2s, so now they're little more than handy ice scrapers. How you could even have expected to see any of the 'special HDR crap' is beyond me. Valve made it very clear what it was, what it was for, and what it needed to run.

Mr. MattIt's hardly Valve's fault that you are running it on a Geforce 4 MX. [/QUOTE] Where in my post did I blame Valve? I just said that if I wasnt told it was a tech demo, I would have thought Valve went crap and released a throwaway level.

Actually it was very good when it was released, which was 3 years ago. I got it for 70 bucks, and it has served me well. But im not going to upgrade my card, because I really just need a whole new rig.

I never expected to see it. Im saying this: forget the technical stuff and all the HDR. Its a crappy level.
