Steam has got to be the biggest pile of crap I've ever seen. A mandatory registration... hmm... I can go along with that, software piracy is a big thing nowadays. However, that combined with the cdkey should not force me to load steam everytime I want to play this game. I know steam can be taken offline after your registration goes through, but this is horrid.

Half-Life 2 will be the most cracked game in history... it's either that or load steam everytime you want to play it. It's a single player only game, that's offline... keep it offline... this blows.

Either it's steam or my internet is bugged, since I can't load steam when I'm online(!), but the moment I disconnect from the internet I can load it and it says "Unable to connect to steam network", god I'm so annoyed.

True, you cant play if your not online. WTF, its a damn sp game not mp game. Jeez, if I was a pissed hacker, I would pirate the game soo much just to get back at valve for making steam. Also to prove that steam is a pile of crap.

You CAN play the game offline. You just have to activate it online once. After that, you are free to play it offline. Just start Steam and click "Start in Offline Mode". I like Steam!

yes, but you did pay for the game. Why not just take your dvd or cd along with you when going to those other counties and save yourself a 4+gig download?
