I'm wondering what effects were used to create the strider sound. I've heard a track on radio some time ago where they played a melody with almost the same sounds, but you've heard they were not sampled. There must be an order of effects/plugins to distort a sound in the special way the strider sound is. If someone knows more about that, please don't hesitate and tell me what you know!

(i'm making music myself, that's why i'm so eager to learn how to make this sound!)

My idea is a automation on pitch and the filter frequencies, heaps of EQing, distortion, fuzzing, etc... but that's bullshit. I need the "recepie"!

Honestly... is here no one who's into audio editing? Come on guys! Even if you're amateurs or just have simple (sometimes the best) ideas, utter them!

OK since i just got back you can hear some machery that makes a similar noise when they break down but thats about it. Also some birds make a sound of that type but not Deep or loud.

The Strider sounds are definetly custom. All Combine Synths use sort of the same effects. But the Striders have the most significant IMO.

I assume they took a voice or an animal sound, or maybe even a really good synthesizer sound and mashed it up with heaps of effect plug ins/machines.
