I was just thrown by dog in the car to the other buiding where I can't figure out what to do next. Alyx says to bring her a roller mine but I don't know how to get one. Someone please tell me how and where to get a roller mine. Also, when do I get to start killing bad guys?
Just wondering before I answer, is this the guy who asked about the pit? Turn left when looking at the screen that shows rollermines falling down from a tube. There should be a tunnel that you crouch into, you should be able to figure it out from there. Hehe, good question, Half-Life games actually take a little bit before you start killing people (or aliens, whatever) but you will go through some exploration of the Citadel (that big tower), not too many puzzles and then something will happen to your gravity gun. Hopefully nothing spoils what happens but I'll just say that the Gravity Gun becomes your first weapon. You'll get it before you leave the Citadel. Have fun.
Yep, same guy. You have to be patient with me cause this is the first time I have ever played half life. I saw the roller mines falling down the tube as you discussed. I crouched down and walked through the tunnel but still can't figure out what to do. I have been shooting the gravity gun at the bottom of the tube trying to get a mine out but no matter how many times I shoot it, they just move around but nothing happens. Please be more specific. Thanks
Okay, once you go through the tunnel you can take a right and then go through a small jumping puzzle that will end up with you on a platform elevator going up and down. Or you can go to the tunnel where you are supposed to enter and look right, there should be a drop. Jump down there and you will land on the same elevator, you will be injured but should live. Once the small elevator reaches the spot it was orignially at (it will go up when you land on it), take a right and you will find a suit charger. Charge up until your suit says 200, and health is 100. The possibility of having 200HEV suit power amount will last for a while. Anyways, you take a left from the charger and you will find the platform with a tube of rollermines stuck. They're not really stuck they just need to be released, look around for a button. Careful though, when pressing the button it will unleash all rollermines, which are against you (until Alyx fixes it). Grab a rollermine, and make your way to the elevator. From there you should be able to make it back to Alyx safely. And if you accomplish this, just so you do not have to do it again: save. Have you played any other games besides this one?
Awesome, thanks for the help. I had no idea you could push buttons liek that. Yep, first time gamer here.....
O.K. what's with the bridge that has no way across it? I keep catching these balls of light that explode. I'm guessing they have something to do with getting across the bridge but I'm not having any luck. How do you get across?? Thanks

Grab an energy orb with the Gravity Gun and shoot it into the socket on the wall of the opposite "floor". It's the distinctively looking blueish device.
Great advice but I keep getting kicked out of the game and can't play anymore for some reason. The screen goes black and keeps kicking out to the desktop.
Strange, Episode One doesn't have that many bug problems from what I know. I think I had a problem like this before though, go into Steam, right click your "Half-Life 2: Episode One" icon in the My Games list and click properties. Go to the far right tab, it should be local files, and click "Verify Integrity of Game Cache." It might take a little bit but it might fix the problem. If the problem does not stop, I have two things to say:
1. What are your PC specs (just in case, this can help with further problems maybe)
2. If your problem has not yet been solved after my previous advice, go to Pvt. Allen, he knows more about anything HL related than I do, and I know a nice amount.
PS: What you are experiencing, I'm pretty sure, is called a CTD (Crash to Desktop). Some games have this problem almost all the time. Battlefield 2 was released with CTD's almost every time you tried to play the game, after patches it was fixed though.

It could be the cache buffer bug, are you experiencing looping sound before the game shuts?
