Before I played Half-Life 2 (in 2006) I watched many, many videos that showed Half-Life 2 for the first time ever. It is a little hard for me to explain but Half-Life 2, in those videos, had a very nice atmospheric feel that no longer exists when I play Half-Life games. The feel is very different compared to what I feel now when I play those games. Take a look at this picture:

The game had a much different feel to it that I liked. When I played the game it was much different. There are many other parts of Half-Life 2 that were originally planned but never took place: Traptwon, the docks, the sewers with Alyx. A lot of these things I looked forward to and was a little disapointed when they never took place. A lot of this stuff can be found in concept art for Half-Life 2 or videos found at Gametrailers. One video showed Kliener's Lab, the graphics seemed better too. What if the game was like they planned it at that time (around 2002-2003)? Would it be better?

Mhmm. It's a good game, but it's success is mostly due to the Original Half-Life(Which is Love and like more)

But Half-Life 2 is great, and now is it's time to show if it's mods can support it and such...it's doing pretty well at least. Most games as old as HL2 don't even have as big a community. Only rarely do gems like this have one(Starcraft, Diablo, Half-Life original, ectera)

So they're doing something right. :P

Yeah I know that, Half-Life 2 is great. I find it one of the greatest of all time. But would it have been better if Valve went with those things?

There's a mod out there called missing information that is trying to re-add all the cut out parts of HL2. I have the unfinished version that adds the first level with many new things like an icepick, older skins, new enemies... But the one thing that I really am disappointed that they cut out is that rifle in your picture. It was much more awesome than the odd looking combine rifle.

Really! Sweet. I bet one of the enemies is that squid tentacle thing. It was showed in a video. Did you know that the pulse rifle in HL2 was actually planned to be a single shot flamethrower? Where can I find news or a website on this mod? I can't wait to see it.

You may find this wierd, but that pic seems to remind me of what my picture of Oceania in George Orwells novel "Nineteen Eighty-Four" looks like. With the normal buildings; then this random huge, scary looking building shooting up out of nowhere.

i feel that valve completely screwd up the half life series, the whole feel of playing a well made game has been lost... everything feels so rushed they try to fix things and they end up screwing up the sdk, and screws up my mod with all this episode stuff overcomplicating things theyre like microsoft putting out the genuine windows advantage update, its the same type of fustration, the fustration that you have to pay more money for features that should have already been there, and that the main reason why you bought it isnt included anymore because they wanted to get it out on the market quicker. to be honest i dont know what company to hate more, valve or microsoft...
