I did a search for striders, but I hardly found anything pertaining to my question. What happened to the striders weapon arsenal? In the e3 vids it showed the strider using some sort of a weapon that pulls the fabric of space and time into its mouth or something, then shots out a blue light that throws people back in slow motion on fire. When I finally reached citadel tonite I was dissapointed. THey only shot the civilians and me with the gun fire the ships used on the coast and river. The only time I seen them use it was when I encountered them a second time on "follow freeman" where it shoots at the car near you as you exit the inner playground. The second time was when i shoot at me from behind a partial wall, destroying it and sending me flying 50 feet to the side with little armor damage. When I looked at the wall, it had fire meaning that it was scripted probably. I was just hoping for more of the secondary usage of their guns. Vavle should have introduced more cool looking weapons on all the flying ships and the striders. What do you think?

Its in the game, just pay more attention.

me got another question to striders!

in some preview you saw them spike rebels with theyre legs ....

i waited the whole game and watched ...but no spiking ;_; sad me

they don't really do a whole lot, do they? i mean, aside from the machine-gun energy death bolts and the rare bluish blast of incandescent warped space-time that rips up buildings. i was always afraid of getting too close to them because of the legs, but i'm better off running around under them and diving behind cars and dumpsters than just shooting from afar. so many wonderful things are missing. i'd like to see them step on cars and have their legs punch through while crushing them. that would increase the fear for me.

Rage2WrathIts in the game, just pay more attention.

Where at? All through out citadel I have seen them use it only twice. Unless I didnt trigger alot of their scritped actions in the level.

Yeah... at the part where you enounter the hree of them is when they blast the blue ray.... they do it to the bank building and blast the the thing apart.... and also when you watch carefully they stab peeps with there legs.... i saw them do it all... quite a few times

i like them, there cool.... just it would be cool if there was like a hoard of them .. around 6 in a field with Gun ships flying everywhere.. that would be a war

No worries, I found a guide that allows you to control the strider's secondary weapon and the flying alien ships.

Strider and his secondary attack

With these commands Strider will do his secondary attack (the beam that destroy everything).If there aren't Strider, create one:

give npc_strider

Now you must set his name to "strider". Aim at the strider and use this command:

ent_setname strider

Now bind your x key to this command:

bind "x" "ent_setname target ;wait; ent_fire strider setcannontarget target"

Now you only need to aim at your target (only NPC not dead) and press the x button. But not press it too many times, because this command don't work always. Strider don't do the attack suddenly after you press the x key, so wait few seconds.

Gunship and his secondary attack

With these commands Gunship will do his secondary attack, the ground attack (the beam that destroy everything like the strider one). If there aren't Gunship, create one away from obstacles. Fly away using the command:

noclip

Then spawn the Gunship:

give_combinegunship

Now bind your x key to this command:

bind "x" "ent_fire npc_combinegunship DoGroundAttack"

When you press the x button, the Gunship will do his secondary attack.
