My computer runs Epsiode 1 almost at max. My spec are CPU: Intel Pentuim 4 @ 3 GHz with HT Memory: 1 GB DDR 400 Videocard: PCI Express 7600 GT
My computer also virtually runs it at max (now that my HDR problem is solved, thanks to Videoslave).
pvt. AllenAs for HDR, I'm sure that it's just imposible to update Half-Life 2 with it in reasonable time. It was already dropped in the time of game developement itself.
The next version of the Cinematic Mod is going to have phong shading and rim lighting in it. In that respect, there's also a good chance of tone mapping.
I'll be playing it on the PC. AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Geforce 6800GT 256MB PCi-E Gigabyte K8NXP-Sli 1GB RAM

Mmnnnn, maybe not tone mapping, but there sure is rim lighting and phong shading! It looks so much better.
PC. Ever tried modding on a console?
Depending if I upgrade more parts of my computer I'll probably be playing HL2 ET on this if I DON'T upgrade: MSI K7N2 Delta Motherboard AGP 8x DDR 400 nVidia Nforce 2 Chipset AMD Athlon XP 2400 2.0GHz Processor 512MB DDR 350 RAM Antec 350 Watt Power Supply ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB AGP 8x/4x Video Card Creative Labs SB Live! Sound Card Western Digital 160GB Sata Hard Drive If I do upgrade I would have these most likely: MSI K7N2 Delta Motherboard AGP 8x DDR 400 nVidia Nforce 2 Chipset AMD Athlon XP 2400 2.0GHz Processor 1 GB RAM Antec 350 (400 possibly) Watt Power Supply BFG Technologies GeForce 7600 GS OC Video Card 512MB DDR2 AGP 8x/4x Video Card Creative Labs SB Live! Sound Card Western Digital 160GB Sata Hard Drive
Now after the upgrade I recently made I'll be playing Half-Life 2: Episode One on this thingie: motherboard - Gigabyte GA-K8N Ultra-9 nVidia nForce4 Ultra CPU - AMD Athlon 64 X2 4800+ (Socket 939) Toledo RAM - 2 x Kingston DDR 1024MB PC-400 (KVR400X64C3A/1G) CL3 in Dual Channel video card - Asus GeForce EN7900GT TOP sound card - Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Music power supply - Chieftec (HPC-420-302-DF) 420W HDD - Segate 160GB Barracuda SATA/300 7200
Heres what I'll be playing on by then. AMD 64 X2 4200+ 2 GB of ram Nforce 4 SLi 7600 GT BFG 200 GB HDD right now I only have the P4 witch is kinda obslete.
Both of those are really nice, upgrading my computer is a bit harder, so I choose the parts that I desperately need. Like the Video Card, PSU, RAM.
