Ok It may be a dumb question but whu is Half-Life called well...Half-Life? Do they explain this at the end of the game or something? We all know why they call Halo, Halo and Unreal Tournament 2004, Unreal Tournament 2004, but Half-Life?:uhm:

This is a question that has popped up many a time but really, no one has any idea. I think it has something to do with the chemical or scientific equation of half life, the length of dissapation/splitting of radiation atoms and molecules over a period of time in relation with teleportation.

Well a Half-Life is the amount of time it takes for half the atoms of a radoiactive substance to decay................... And it does sound kinda cool.......Why was Quake called Quake? Why was Unreal called Unreal (apart from being generally Unreal)

God u thickos!

Half-Life as N.C.F correctly mentioned is the time it takes for half the atoms of a radioactive substance to decay. Black Mesa had a lot of leaked radioactive substance that resulted in the "aliens" i.e. mutations.

Get the connection?

Quake was named after the incidents that happened there. I don't recall. Maybe an earthquake? ... or some guys name or a codename? Unreal is unreal cuz its unreal. Doom is doom cuz it relates to death and destruction. As for Far Cry, no idea, prolly derived from the engines name "Cry Tek".

The true meaning is rather obvious

Gordon was a scientist at black mesa. Half-Life is a term used to describe the decay of radioactivity.

Throughout the game Gordon is faced with many surreal challenges that may indicate that he is given only half of the truth he has been living with.

So, in reality, it's got three meanings

Since the reason was explained three times, i'd say its the reason its called what its called. :p

But it does sound cool, without knowing why.
