Hey guys. I know this may seem strange, but I only just beat the game yesterday. I don't play it that much in Campaign mode, but I finally sat down and beat it. The ending was a definate cliffhanger, left me drooling. Especially the special ending after the credits...WIERD.
Anyway, a few things bugged me in the game:
-Why didn't they bring back the old assault rifle, the MA5B1? It could be placed around maps sparingly, as it is still a military service rifle. I like the new one fine enough, but sometimes I just wanted to go full-auto without having to find an SMG, ya know?
-One of my biggest dissapointments came when we left Earth. That was a huge letdown. I had bought the game expecting to do house to house combat and open warfare on my block, not fight for another Halo.
Those are two of my biggest concerns. Feel free to comment.
Yah there was only 2 levels on earth. They didnt want to spoil the story to much through the reviews. Also if it was all on earth, "halo" wouldnt make much sense.
Yeh, I was just about to say that. Aparantly the old assualt rifle was too poweful for the game? I finished the game is 3.5 hours today!
But the whole "Earth will never be the same" marketing slogan really made me buy it. I was looking forward to lots of large-scale battles where the Master Chief and the ODSTs would have to make assults similar to the beach landing on the Silent Cartographer. I'm not sure why Bungie won't make more "epic battles" like this game almost screams for!!
Makes me mad that I can't be in charge of the game...
Yeah, I would have preffered that the game took place more on Earth, that I what I thought the game was going to do from all the adds, but when you look at the campaign as a whole, it was still pretty sweet, I personally enjoyed it very much.
And the Assault rifle was replaced by the Battle rifle, much like happens in real life, when a piece of equipment has served its purpose and there is a better one, then it gets replaced. Im actually glad they did, I thought the assault rifle was not very usefull, horrible accuracy, and low stopping power, I much preffer the battle rifle.
But they really need more epic-scale battles. The sci-fi genre is built entirely on either a)huge space battles or b)huge land battles between aliens and humans. I want to be dropped off in a hot LZ with other Marines in a mission to rescue a high government official or something.
And to be honest I despised the Elite missions. I didn't buy the game to play as the aliens that I'm vying to destroy.
When the mission briefing for Quarentine Zone said: "human...parasites...no madder the index must be found." I thought you might have to fight marines, but it was just human flood forms. It would have been cool to fight against humans, I get tired of killing flood and covenant, also needed more sentinel robots, making a 4th side in the Halo war.
Meh, Sentinals aren't really a "side" as much as just robots doing their job of protecting the ring.
FactionReacon I totally here what your saying. I had the same idea of what halo 2 would be like, I thought that we would be going from country to country wiping out covenant resistance and was let down when I first found out I was and Elite with Grunt and Jackal squad members. Like you said house to house combat, thats exactly what I was thinking, but the game did NOT turn out to be how I imagined it to be. I was really let down.
