Halo... a great game in many peoples eyes, but is it ruining today's young gamers? The answer is yes, all around us it is happening! Ever since the release of Halo 2 for X-box, many of the people I know have completely stopped playing all other systems. All they do is come home from school, and play on X-box live untill they either fall asleep or go into a coma. On top of that... they refuse to even try Nintendo and Sony games... because they think that "Compared to Halo/Halo2 all games are inferior." Can someone tell me if they have noticed the same things I have?

Yes.... it's also horrible that parents are allowing their 4-16 year olds play the game, when the rating clearly states "M for Mature". I only recently got into the FPS games last year when I was 17. Ugh, where'd my sig go now?!

I don't think I know anyone who's that bad about it. Lots of my friends play Halo on Live, but it's just for fun, and they play all sorts of other games. I played it too when I had my 2-month free trial thing, and it was fun, but not THAT fun. There are better games than Halo 2.

Greenvalv, I can see your sig...

Halo is a great game, and is one the best ever made. Halo 2 was good, but not awsome like Halo was. Halo 2 on XBL is fun, but it does not have the feel that Halo on the xbox and PC did. The SP in Halo 2 did not have the epic scale like Halo. You never got into any large areas to duke it out with tanks or the warthog like in Halo. Assult on the Control Room was awsome for that very reaon. You come out a structure onto a giant plain with hills, rocks, trees for what is in game over 1/2 of a mile. The closest you get to that in Halo is Containment Zone.

I don't think some 12 year old playing Halo is going to turn him into a killer. I did not get into the violent games untill I was 14. Compared to other games, Halo is not that violent. It was rated "T" at one point.

Yeah i have been into violent games since i was about 10 year old, and im not a violent person just a little agressive at times. Im a bit of a war junkie. Halo is hands down the best game ever made PC and XBOX. Nintendo and sony don't really have any well known games like XBOX do. Nintendo have better games then sony, like super mario, zelda, super smash bros (personally favourite). Sony all they got is rachet and clank and GTA and none of them have made as much has Halo racks in.

pfff, don't get pissed off because Halo 2 is obviously the most played game, think about it though... were there huge lines, and people camping outside to be the first ones to get any other game? ... the answer is no! so stop b*tching and deal with it...

i really doubt the effect of halo/ halo 2 on the gaming community. i mean, its just one game, and i don't know why you post this now, halo 2 peaked long ago, from 200,000 people playing at once, to 200,000 playing in a whole day and only 2000 people playing at any one time. anyway, what a relatively small part of the community does is up to them. and please, enough of the halo bashing, the amout of sales and people playing the games show just how popular they've been. besides, when it comes down to it, some people can't buy every single console and every single game that comes out, with most of them being 10 minute wonders, so its better that theres a few games for people to fall back on (good xbox live examples of these 'fad' games are far cry, now with only about 20 games being played at any one time, mech assault with only a handfull, and doom 3; pretty small fanbase although the co-op campaign was a nice touch). and anyway, what do you care what some guy who lives 1000 miles away is doing in their evenings...

oh, and before someone shouts fanboy, i have all of the last generation consoles and play a variety of games

Just because the Halo series is one of the best in its catagory, doesn't mean its dominating. There's things like Oblivion, Dawn of war Battlefield 2 etc. They're all great games, but different. Halo is set in the future, but people might want things like America's Army, as a shoot em up in the modern time. You can't say its ruining gaming just because people like it over other futuristic 1st person shooters. Personally, I think it rocks. Both of them. I can't wait for Vista. But thats not the point. The point is I know plenty of people who will buy ither things. Point taken?
