The Joelteon7;4068859Something I've never got though: humans descend from Forerunners. Fine, I easily accept that (in whichever form is given). This is the part I don't get:

Why are we so incapable in using Forerunner tech? Why don't we have access to it? Why can't we use it? Why are we not dominating the Covenant with its overwhelming power?

beats me..... or why are we still using projectile weapons 500 years in the future?

Because we didn't even know about it until Cortana accessed Halo, and we can use it, did you not read the books and see that there are a few instances when the Chief instinctively chose a button on one of Halo's consoles and it turned out to be the right one?

Or a couple of times in the games when during cutscenes, the Chief would walk up to a console and press a button before Cortana could determine which to press? Then when she asked him, "How did you know that would be the right one?" and he would reply, "I didn't"?

When was that? Cause I've played each one religiously since they came out, and I never remember anything like that.

I haven't read the books. Whilst I like the lore of the Halo universe, I'm generally not a heavy reader anyhow.

I think you slightly missed my point though. I accept we can use it...but what happened to the tech after the detonation of the Halos? The Forerunners did whatever they did, but all the Forerunner tech was left and humans were there in some form and MUST'VE known about the tech (otherwise how would they be safe?) so why couldn't they keep on using it? Should Humans not be flying about in Forerunner craft and not the crappy ones they have?

or... the Forerunners might have been gods to them like they are to the Covies, so maybe the humans during that time just thought it was divine intervention or something, or never knew anything about it
