I Thought to myself "I know, ill get some mods for Halo! =D" as i was just bored. But all i find is patchs and every kind of "Gultch" map replacement you can think of? Is that ALL there is??
I was ideally looking for... an arena or Gladiator map or mod, that pits you in a level agaisnt hordes of non stop Covvies or Flood! Wouldnt that be awesome? Im suprised one hasnt been made yet. Im not interested in multiplayer mods as i dont have the internet on the PC that Halo is on.
If i am completely wrong, and made an idiot out of myself by posting this because actually IS an arena map/mod, PLEASE correct me! If any one could link me to one if it excists please go ahead and insult me on my poor googling skills.
First off you need halo CE. This is a free extension of Halo, and all you need is a CD key. This can be found here: http://halo2.filefront.com/file/Halo_CE;25771 Well. You will want maps with AI in. Here is a series of links with AI in: http://halo2.filefront.com/file/Boxed_In;28067 http://halo2.filefront.com/file/Madness_Part_1;68585 http://halo2.filefront.com/file/Madness;68642 http://halo2.filefront.com/file/The_Rush;67672 http://halo2.filefront.com/file/BioHalo;55512 http://halo2.filefront.com/file/Area_52;59305 http://halo2.filefront.com/file/Area_53;45222 http://halo2.filefront.com/file/Area_54;59306 http://halo2.filefront.com/file/Area_55;59308 There is also a custom campaign that can be found here (well worth the dl): http://halo2.filefront.com/file/CMT_Full_Conversion;65603 That should give you (and your bandwidth) something to think about and try. PM me if you have any questions/queries. *UD note the location of all the links*
You sir, are a ledgend. Ok, a few questions =D Will i need to patch my version of Halo to install CD? As it is still 1.0! And are there any special things i need to know? Like, how to open the console (that sounds really, REALLY dumb), any command lines atc? Wb dude! Thanks!!! =D
You don't need to do a thing to the origional game. You need to download the custom edition link above and install the program. You don't need the CD, only the cd key. You then can download all of the other above links and install the maps. Now. The consol. This always causes difficulty. After you install the Halo: Custom edition, there will be an icon on your desktop. Right click on that icon and select properties. In the window that comes up, there will be a line saying 'target'. At the end of this line, after the closing speech marks you need to add the following: -devmode -console Just that. Nothing else. That will then open the game in developer mode and allow you to cheat or the like. You need to press the ` button (top left, left of the number 1 usually) to open the console. Sorry if you know all of ths already.
Yeah, dont worry about being patronising. I did ask! I did already know all the ` thing, and id figured it would be somthing to do with the short cut. Ok, thanks dude! ^^
Any time. As I said, PM me if you need any help.

how do you make maps anyway
18th November 2004
Making maps is a long and complicated process. You have to use a series of tools called the Halo Editing Kit (HEK), consisting of several programs that allow you to assemble all the parts of a map and compile them into a finished product. Maps generally take several weeks or months to make. Not for the casual modder.
Revenge was here.

I hvae never heard of a casual modder.......Anyways custom edition is in serious need of some good modder, all of those good ones dont have enough time.:(
I can, but I don't. I have done a bit of playing around. There are some good and easy tutorials out there and a but of knowledge about how to make a map is useful. I do think that HEK made life a lot harder than it needed to be though. There could be an easier way round it. Especially tool.
