I don't spend enough time here
22nd August 2008
So I was playing Halo today. CTF on Blood Gulch. I went for the flag and got it thinking that TONY standing there was AFK. So on my way out I decided to kill TONY just in case. So I stabbed him and he fired his shotgun. I was down to a middle heath bar and I had stabbed him twice. Then we both die with the messages: Eh! Steve was killed by TONY TONY was killed by the guardians
Is this some protection for the flagbearer or something weird. There was nobody named the guardians it was wierd.
"The Guardians" is a string Halo will use in the event of a small glitch rendering it unable to write the correct string.

Sometimes that's related to a bad network connection, like if a person is in the process of timing out.
Or if it is a modded map, a trap will be known as "The Guardians"

Yes, the glitch missing.string is referring to is probably the one similar to Halo 3's new "simultaneous melee" feature in which both players drop dead on the count of a near-simultaneous melee. In Halo PC, if two people kill each other at almost the exact same time, one of them gets killed normally while the other is killed by "the guardians". I've seen that a few times before too. It's pretty rare.
