as soon as i get my new videocard installed i was thinking about making the entire multiplayer portion of the original perfect dark. i have halo ce, the HEK and 3ds max 9 and am going to be running this through a radeon x1300 but i was wondering has anybody else started or finished this idea already? i didn't find anything by searching the forum but you never know...

i didn't mean perfect dark zero, i meant the original perfect dark. i've had it on my N64 since the month it came out and although its a great game the graphics are really old by now and the framerate has always sucked, so i wanted to make it what it should look like if it was released now for the PC... just using the Halo engine. i also happen to have a cartridge dump on my hard drive and project64 to make modeling easier since i don't have a video capture card. i also have read little things about custom campaigns? would it be possible to create the missions of PD alongside of the multiplayer portion?

It would. However before you start a project this big, consider that H2V is coming soon. It would take a very long time to do a mod this big. And there is going to be an H2V HEK. You may want to think about making things and porting them to the H2V engine when it comes out.

i seriously doubt i'll get halo 2 vista. why: microsoft forced everyone that wanted to play halo to get a xbox for over a year(?). now they forced everyone that wants to play halo 2 to get a xbox or buy vista. they lost my support(and my money) the day they announced it was a requirement. but if i do make all of the gun models, levels, etc. for halo ce would i be able to post the files online so that others could use them in H2V ce?

You can convert to H2V. What you would need to do is all the modelling and skinning and sort the conversion out later. The only difference may be that H2V may support bumpmapping. But for the moment, you can just focus on the models. I like the idea. What was your plan for a biped?

at the moment i was going to just leave the bipeds as master chief, but i thought about when you choose the color of your character in the menu to be able to use different models, like joanna, jonathan, elvis and others

I dont know if that would be possible. I don't think the UI would allow that. What you could do is have random bipeds. I.E. it is random which biped you could be each time you spawn.

well i guess that'll have to work... having some other problems at the moment, every time i start 3ds max i get this message: DLL failed to initialize. Error code: 127 - the specified procedure could not be found. i copied the four dll files that came in the HEK in the same folder as blitzkrieg to C:/windows/system32 and then i copied blitzkrieg.dle to C:\program files\autodesk\3ds max 9\plugins\ which is what the little readme file told me to do right?

pdark-mod.com maybe i should just buy half-life 2 source because of how much better it'll look... and the fact that it can be more like the original perfect dark. oh, and they have an entire team working on it.
