hello all:cya:

for a destructible environment in halo, has anyone tried to build a level out of glass? it would make anyone who entered seriously think about the consequences of their actions...:smokin: just asking... actually...might try it myself...

HA HA HA. That is a pretty sick idea. I remember a map on CS with that idea. The floors were made up of squares of glass, and all you had were nades to throw (more were on ground). These squares had crossbeams that held them together, but when the glass broke, you had to stand on the think beams or fall to the lower level, where the same madness would occur. After that level you fell to your doom. =P. If would be fun but those matches would be quick!

I doubt the halo engine can support destructible environments. Terrible idea.

the engine would support glass right? all one would have to do is get panes of colored glass!

Terrible idea? Well gee, that is really helpful and supportive. The Halo engine definately supports the destructible enviroment. Halo 2, Halo 3? All running on a modified version of the first Halo engine (Halo 3 has a lot more capabilities tho). The Halo 1 can hold destructable enviroments and I might know how to use em. Unlike the Human vehicles, the covenant vehicles in the campaign blew up. If you could change a certain aspect of that into glass, destroying glass shouldn't be too hard. The problem I see is lag, but hopefully, the vehicles would be so simple they dont take up too much. Necro, if you have a different idea of how to approach that, post it up. I doubt mine would be effective for this kind of a map with so much glass.

Even with my idea, I am almost sure there is a simpler way to do this. I am not a very good modder/creator for CE, so I can't say what will really work. Hope you find something and make it work. That map would be fun if built right.

actually, i was thinking of a building... it would be cool, if a bit weird, to suddenly find yourself falling twenty stories because you threw a grenade wrong...

It was, but hey, it is how you killed the person. Which spurs another idea. Put everyone on overshields, so that the way u die is by pushing someone off the area. Edit the force of the grenade explosion so that it is just enough to push someone off a safe spot.

The house would be odd, because would it stand up by itself? If the walls were destroyed, kuplunk. Would be hard to design the collapsing animation, but I am sure it could be done.
