Halo: Combat Evolved is just the full title of Halo for PC. Custom Edition is a standalone multiplayer client that allows the playing of custom maps and content. It can only be played if you already own the regular Halo PC. Consider it an add-on, if you will.

But can you add your own mod's to it?

Yes you can, most are just maps or skins, but there are full conversion mods like Desert combat for BF1942.

You just need the halo editing kit(HEK) from halo files. If you need help modding ask dragon master, he knows alot more than I do.

If you still dont understand, Halo: Combat Evolved is the full name for Halo (not just the PC one, the Xbox one too) Halo: Custom Edition is an add-on (pretty much) to Halo: Combat Evolved that is all about Multiplayer and lets u use, make, and download custom maps (custom edition of course) But I think you shouldn't get Halo CE, the maps are great and all but not as much ppl play it as they do Regular Halo. You'll find over 100 servers for Halo, but only about 20 every now and then for Halo CE

I do believe they've covered that.

However, if you wish to stick to the basics and just try to get a grip and general feel for modding, mod the halo PC version (Halo: Combat Evolved) and get HMT (Not HEK) which stands for halo mapping tools. It's pretty easy to follow and understand. You can do some skinning and vehicle, and projection modifications. Both can be found at www.HaloFiles.com
