we've all heard that 'ai don't sync online! ai don't sync online!' thing, but there are many maps that do in fact have ai. so what i was wondering is... does the word sync suddenly have a different meaning?

Dictionary.com definition of Synchronize:

to cause to go on, move, operate, work, etc., at the same rate and exactly together

Basically what they mean is that when online, your computer makes your AIs do one thing while the host computer's AIs are doing something else. For instance, your AI's could be standing around doing nothing on your screen, but the host's AIs are actually shooting at you and killing you (even though you can't see them.)

They don't. The only way AI can work using Halo's netcode is with "dumb" AI. I'm testing that ATM, and it might work.

The AI does sometimes work, but it will lag.......bad. This happened while I was playing AREA 55. Other times it will just stand there, doing nothing.

Also, you have the "ghost AI" issue.

i'm not understanding... "dumb" ai? i've been in many games where you don't lag at all, and the ai are, in fact, doing just what they are supposed to.

By "dumb AI" I think Cartografer means AI that are very simple with a lot of limitations, like maybe they don't move.

Yes, they respond to being shot, nearby grenades, and suchlike, but won't move. Am I still a bot?
