alright i got the patch that allows for xp compatablility now when i start Halo 2 i get this error: LIVE gaming on Halo 2 failed to intialize This may be because another LIVE service is running(Halo 2 dedicated server) then it tells me to try again or reinstall Halo 2 I don't want to reinstall it and go through a crapload of errors what should i do?
Yeah, when Windows tells you to reinstall something, your best bet is definitely to just do it. It's not such a pain in the ass as to not be worth having a fully functional game.
Whoa wait a second. Halo 2 Vista can be played on XP now? When did this happen?! Can anyone provide linkage to this patch?
Somebody made a crack so you can on XP. Personally I think this is illegal, but it's ironically increasing the sales of halo 2. Don't get your hopes up, as you cannot play multiplayer because windows live is vista only.
I'd like to have this patch too..
There was a topic where some guy posted the link of the patch. Patch is not the right word because Microsoft didn't make it. That topic was deleted because the talks have gone to illegal things like torrents.
Hi, It's my first post and it's good to be here.
I've installed Halo2 on Vista and I've got low fps because my comp is not that good, so I've decided to install on XP using that so called patch. Everything is ok except I cannot find a way to run it in full-screen. Halo 2 is running windowed with the latest version of DirectX and video drivers. Anyone knows something I can do to fix this? I've tryed a lot of combinations of screen res and frequency rates...
Hmm I remember somewhere that someone said that there is a console command that allows you to run in windows mode, so there should a console command to switch it back. However I recommend that you run in a window because you get higher FPS. Also, be aware you cannot play on live with XP "patch".
Yes, the command is in the Readme.rtf and it's "-windowed". I've tried "-full-screen" and "-fullscreen" with no result, they are not listed in there. I thought I could get better FPS in full-screen :(
