Hey, look! It's my first post! Wutsup gamers. I have a question. A question that needs answering.

When Playing Halo (1) on PC, i noticed that many of the effects ARE NOT showing up. Someone throws a grenade at me... i see no fire or bursting of flames. The screen shakes and my health either lowers or i die.

When i shoot a player or alien and they fall to the ground, they are not laying in their usual puddle of blood.

There are several other effects that have gone missing and i can't figure out why! Your help and advice would be great!

thanks a million, troll

:cya: Welcome to filefront forums Graphics. What graphics card are you and what settings do you run halo on?

Hey! Thanks for answering so quickly. First off... i'm not what you call completely "computer savvy"... so i have no idea what a game card is. As for my settings, i've never messed with settings. Here's my Halo Time-line:

1) Got the game. 2) Played the game and loved it. Found nothing wrong. 3) Continued to play it. 4) One day i found that, basically, my computer was too full of programs and stuff thus making the playing of the game impossible. It suggested that i "clear up space". 5) After clearing enough space on my computer (old documents and unused programs and files) i found that i could play the game... but now the graphics are terrible. I can just make out the text that the other players type during multilayer games.

And that's pretty much it. Do i need to clear up more space on my computer? Thanks again!

It's not called a game card it's called graphics card. Is masterchief and many of the elites gray when you play? If so then it's because you're graphics card sucks so the game has to run in safe mode. By the way I just bought a new computer form dell :).If you want to find out what graphics card you're computer uses, then go to my computer, right click and you'll see properties, click on that and you get a window that displays you're manufacturer, RAM, processor, now go to device manager, click display adapters and you'll see what graphics card you're using.

:agreed Or one option is: to ensure you have about 5-10 Gb free space on your hard drive, then re-install. That should fix the problem if you say that it worked fine before. 343, what new PC have you got? I am interested

Ok, i did what 343Guilty said, and after clicking "Display Adapters" under it appeared this: NIVIDIA GeForce FX 5200.

What that is... i have no earthly (or computerly) idea.

I've played on Safe Mode before. *shivvers* It's not fun.

I might have to try what you suggested, Sunray. But like i said, i'm not too computer savvy.

On my Hard Disk Drives (i apparently have 6?) the free space is as follows on each one:

530 MB 4.48 GB 2.21 GB 4.11GB 4.10 GB 2.85 GB 19.90 BC

Ok i made that last one up. But is that enough space to do what you suggested? The reinstall thing?

And to bug you some more: Would that delete all my progress on the Campaign?

1) Fine. No problem with playing Halo. 2) Lol. But at least you can play it 3) WTF????? An extreme RAID (lots and lots of hard drives) system or a drive partition (1 hard drive separated out). Does anyone else use your PC, and did you get it new? 4) No. When you uninstall you have the option "delete all user profile data" or something along those lines, just make sure you keep all that data and you will be fine. I think that graphics options are not included iin saved game data, so you should be fine.

So yes. Re-install

Being 16, i share the computer with a family of 6. We've always had a problem with not having enough room. We're thinking about gettin' a laptop.

Welp! Thanks for the help! I'll reinstall it tomorrow and see how things go. If i have any more trouble i know where to go. You guys have been a lot of help!

See ya around the forum, troll

Just saw this. And yes i'm double posting. Sorry, i don't have enough time to re-edit my post.

Apparently FX does support Halo... i lag every now and then and (duh) am having trouble with the effects... but other than that Halo plays fine on my computer and...uh....video card.
