heyy i been searching through the forums and i have had no help on my problem although there was one but there was no help - and it wouldnt let me post on that thread. a couple of weeks ago i uninstalled my HALO combat evolved game - it was working fine. but when i tried installing it again on the setup bit its all installing then gets to 87% then an error message appears sayin- "Halo setup encountered a disk error while writing to the file C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\maps\sounds.map. Make sure you hard disk is not full, and that the file is not in use." what is the solution to this problem and the thing that makes the problem worse is that my my hard disk is not full. (from my opinion its summin to do with the sounds.map odviously lol) i been tryin to fix this problem for about 5hours now  any help will be greatly thanked:bows:
Sounds like a scratched CD. I think you should see if you can borrow the installation disk from a friend who has it, but use your CD key. Your CD will probably run the game, but may not do the installation. If you know somene else with the CD though.
I thought the CD-keys were only usable to the disk it comes with?

Not true. All the Halo CDs are identical. The only thing that makes a difference is the key you type in. There are no duplicates of those. Try a friend's disk if you can.
I doubt there is a lot of people who actually got Halo PC the LEGAL way, if you know what I mean. Considering the fact that MS pulled support form the game years ago it seems to run unchecked.
i just put some water on tissue paper and washed the CD it worked LOL
when i try to install halo it does not get passed 1% halo.exe so i got a friends cd of halo used my cd keyand when i go on online play and get update then lunch again it says please insert correct cd
Is this using your friends CD or your own? You have to have a working CD in to play Halo online.
