We I try to install halo 1 pc i get this error:
Halo Setup encountered a disk error while writing to C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\maps\a30.map. Make sure your hard disk is not full, and that the file is not in use.
hard disk doesn't have any halo files on it and so nothing as such is in use.
And some times it stops at a10.map instead a30.map
Would someone here know the problem?
You say it hasn't got any Halo files on it, but is it full. Did you check the overall disk space left.
Hmmm. Perplexing. Is the intallation disk at all scratched? Also, as you seem like a well informed chap, what is the spec of your PC? I can't really see how it would make any difference, but hey. I'll try to think/find any possible answers. How many times did you try installing it by the way?
I've actually had the game running on this computer for quite a while. I had this proble after intalling a fresh copy of Win. XP and reinstalling halo all over again.
It's a retail Gateway M460 laptop. Pentium M 1.6GHz; RAM: 512MB; Video: ATI MOBILITY RADEON X700
Have you installed SP2? May make a difference. Cant see why though. And as I said, is the disk scratched?
No the disk is not scratched and I havent installed SP2 but I will try that then.
Hmmm. I can't see why that would inhibit map installation. I'll sleep on it...
