Hey guys just wondering if i could get some help with this error that is starting to annoy me. the error reads: Halo Setup encountered a disk error while writing to the file C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo\GSArcade.exe i have tried totally uninstalling Gamespy arcade that i had got from other games, and instaling halo. i also tried costom installing halo without ticking the "Install Gamespy Arcade" BOX and still the same error. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance Brad.
This could be one of 2 problems.
Either your hard drive is having a read-error type problem when writing to that directory.
Your CD is bad.
My advice would be to try installing it to a different directory.
Try this directory:
Two possibilities: 1. Your disk is damaged/scratched/raped/molested or any of bad in general 2. You pirate.
my disk is legit and its not badly cratchd so i will try the new directory. ill get back to you if it doesnt work. thanks. hmm no still i get the same error. disk is almost perfect condition and i tried that new directory :S but nothing. please post back with any new ideas. thanks again. Brad
Don't install Gamespy. I never use it myself, and I find it unnecessary. Do any of the other installing files have this problem?
Really? Because I think without it you can't type messages to other players in multiplayer games, nor can you see anyone who join your game and you can't see what they are typing. Or at least, this is what happened to me when I didn't installed it.
Never had problems with that myself. You have to run "msxmlenu.msi" in "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition\redist" if you have that problem, but I don't have Gamespy and I haven't encountered that problem.
