I recently bought Halo 2 Vista and Rainbow Six Vegas, they both install fine. But when I run the exe, i get the same error. "This application has failed to start becuase d3dx9_31.dll was not found. Reinstalling this may fix the problem." Ive reinstalled them both. Still no difference :(

I have the same problem when trying to play Oblivion and when i do put the files that are missing into the folder i eventually end up with an other message that says "The procedure entry point MakeCriticalSectionGlobal could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll." But Halo 2 runs just fine! Very annoying

Don't post other game issues here this is the HALO section. Anyways Noir I think it's because you didn't download the latest version of DX9.

That's DX10, I'm talking about DX9. Halo doesn't support DX10 so it's useless to have it for halo.

Even though the application is called Halo 2 for Vista? anyway, i fixed it now, I googled the .dll file, and downloaded it. Lol.

Vince halo 2 vista is a DX9 only game even though vista is the only (official) OS supported. That means it will not take advantage of DX10 visuals.
