Are you hosting your game on a wireless internet connection? If so, you cannot do it. The game will not be joinable for other people, as the GS master server user your router's IP instead of your PC's IP. If you are using a wireless router, you can't host. Simple as. Sorry.

This just *might* answer my problem as well - what if we are using wireless router but with one computer wired to it while the other uses wireless? Can the wired computer host a game, in that case?

If you are behind a router fullstop, the hosting will not work. I'll explain why as people seem to want to know.

When you host a game, your computer sends a registry to the Gamespy server. This then notes the IP of the server and puts it up on the server list. When somebody tries to enter your server, the gamespy server issues the client with some info and your IP address. The client then attempts to connect to the IP it's been issued with; your router's IP. As the router does not actually have Halo running, it gets confused, and refuses the connection. Consequently, you can't actually host a game when behind a router. If you plug directly into the internet, your actual IP is used instead of your routers, so the IP delivered to the main Halo masterserver is the one of the computer running Halo; hence why it works.

Make sense?
