I already have my Halo: Combat Evolved game installed, but now I want to install Halo Custom Edition. I lost my product key, so I was woundering if I could find it on my computer anywhere, since I did enter it in to install Halo. If there is no way, then I guess I'll have to look for my key a little harder. Oh, and does anyone know where it acually is located when you purchase the game? Everywhere everyone else is telling me to look is never right. Hope you guys can help.

In the actual game packaging, it's on a yellow sticker on the CD sleeve.
You should be able to find your key via the Windows registry. Hold the Windows logo key and hit "R" to open the "Run" box, and type "regedit", without quotes. This will open the registry editor.
Your Halo key code can be found in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Microsoft Games\Halo
The key should be the "PID" value.
Ah Zam... you are to helpful... you took the words right out of my mouth... (or however it works when typing ;))
Right off the tips of your fingers, I guess? =p
Sorry, but when I get to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft in the Registry Editor, I can't find a "Microsoft Games". Does this mean that it didn't install correctly or something? I was playing it this morning, so it still works. Thanks for your help.
im not sure what that means... you should check again. i dont have it installed any more but the registry entry is still there.. If all else fails. hit Cntrl+F to search for it.
Well, sorry. I can't find it. I might look a little longer, but if that doesn't help then I'll just look for my CD sleeve thingy. Thanks for that tip Zamamee. And thanks everyone for the help, but I think this is all I can do for now. And it's not like its a big deal, its just a game... Thanks again.
Actually, a thought just occurred to me. If you're on a 64 bit operating system, your information might be in a different place in the registry.
Try looking in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > Software > Wow6432Node > Microsoft > Microsoft Games.
Sorry for double psoting, but I found my CD sleeve thing. Thanks Zamamee (again) for telling me it was on there. I can now play Halo CE. Yay
Awesome, glad to hear you found it. :)
