Whenever I attempt to play any Half-Life mod, or the game itself, it boots up(I get a chance to see the image at the beginning), then instantly changes resolution and quits out. I play counter strike source, and half-life 2, and this problem never occurs with them. I was playing normal half-life late last year, and it stopped working about 4 months ago. I have a 1.2ghz athlon, 1gb of ram, and a Nvidia 6600gt videocard. I ran DXdiag, and all the Direct 3d tests ran accordingly, could it be something with my refresh rates/ resolution? or am I in need of a reformat(its been 3 years... I really want to, but I just have too much stuff that I can't throw away at the moment) I also ran a registry fixer, I had around 10,000 problems, all fixed now, but half life still doesnt work:confused: . Help me please!!!!!:bawl:

If you haven't already, check Valve's support pages. You can get there through steam by launching steam, going to the main pop up-page-thing, going to "Help" at the top of the screen, then picking "Technical Support Page." Then you could try finding any errors you get there. Also, don't pass up sending them a mail. They are actually very helpfull. If nothing that you find/they tell you works, I would suggest re-installing Steam+all your Steam games. Make sure to record any info you need (login, etc.) before you do anything. Those are just my general troubleshooting tips. It will usually solve most problems. Only thing it won't solve is an issue with your PC.
yes this might work, or not though.Go to your steam games list, right click on your hl1 game. Then click proerties. Then click set launch options and put into the line -autoconfig. It should or not work then.I dont know but if u dont use steam with hl1, i dunno what to tell ya but to contact valve support.
