Just a couple of questions. When I start any of my maps, I get a message like "Graphic node out of date. Updating" How do I fix this? What's it about? Recently, none of my maps have light sources, just plain light. What gives? Even those that had before. In singleplayer, how do you start the character with the suit and weapons and what not? Thanks

1: Nodes are AI waypoints. I'm not sure how to keep it from updating them at the start.

2: Are you running the radiosity tool when you are compiling?

3: Just put the suit and the weapons in the same position as the player spawn.

1. I was wrong. It said, "Rebuilding" not "Updating". I was just worried that it wouldn't work on other computers or something like that. 2. I don't even know what the radiosity tool is. 3. Yeah, that's what I've been doing. Just feels a bit newbeish. ,)

Yes, rebuilding, updating, it's the same.

Radiosity, is the Vrad.exe. You've got in your compile window the BSP tool, for making the actual map, the VIS tool for visibility (not 100% sure what is it) and you've got RAD for the lights. IF you've got RAD off, it's not going to put lights in your map, but just give every face the same full light values.

Maybe, but I'm not sure, there is an entity where you can select the players weapon loaded. I have never used it before though, and I'm not even sure if it exists.

Yeah, I hope it works anyway. I just haven't seen it when I start other maps.

Anyway, the light thing was some config in the game. When it started it set lightscale to fullbright. If you bring down your console you can see this. I think it's something like mat_lightscale 1 And for lights to work it should be set to zero.

yeah i had been stuck for hours trying to get the light of then i realised i was looking straight at the command in the console.

mat_fullbright 1/0 to be exact for others :P

You can force the game/map to force it to mat_fullbright 1 when you compile your map.
