Hi guys, I’m relatively new to mapping so go easy. I’ve watched many hammer tutorials and read lots of articles. I’ve made a few simple maps, but now I’m trying to do something’s more complicated things I’m getting stuck. Here goes...

  • How do I lay weapons on the floor like in aim maps? I’ve tried for example calling an entity “weapon_ak47” and it just shows “obsolete.” I’ve read about the entity “game_player_equip.” However I cannot get this to work.
  • When creating water on one of my maps, it all look fine in hammer, but when running the game the surface of the water is all white, but it still splashes (I’ve added water_lod and env_cube entitys.) I have followed all the steps in one of MNeMiC’s tutorials.
  • When I try to insert a model for example a burnt out car from dust, again it is shown in hammer, but not in the game when I run it.

I have also read about the "ARMOURY_ENTITY" but i cannot find this in the entity list. Does it exist in CSS? Does anyone know of any weapon creating tutorials? I've looked around but haven't found one.

Heres a tutorial i found to place weapons...

However i cannot get this to work. Just shows "obselete" entity when i create it. Could it be that the .fgd file is wrong or do i need a customised one, i really dont know.

Please can someone help out or share some advice. Thanks

Same problem with weapons. With water, I had this problem, too, but I made a new map where water's brush just touched the floor, didn't was IN it (like on mnemic.tk). That was good, so I think that was the problem.

And an other problem: I tried to make a surfacebreakable glass. I couldn't see it, so I tried so many times. Now, I have the glass, but it doesn't break, and only seen from one side.

with the burned out car in dust ... if you do not want it to move than simply set it to "prop_static" also some props might not show in the map because it is touching something so what i usualy do is place it where i want and make it hover just enough so it will spawn but not look stupid hope that helps ya as for the water. . lol i get the same prob, i only had it working 1 time

Hey guys, I had the same problem. Now the reason why you are not finding the entites is because you need an additional fgd file. It is attached in a zip file. Instructions on how to insert into editor: Extract cstrike_full.fgd into and folder, remember where it is. Open Hammer. Click Tools > Options Under "Game Configuration" Tab Find where it says Game Data files: Click Add and select the file you extracted (cstrike_full.fgd) Click Ok Apply It Restart Hammer and walla the weapon_(CS WEAPON NAME)'s are there. Bugs with weapons and hammer right now: 1. Weapon disappears after 5-6 seconds. 2. It only gives you 1 clip of ammo. This is a problem with Hammer and it is working to be resolved. -Pimp
