i have created an autoexec file and it works fine, except for when i try to get it to run a custom cfg file. i have "exec custom.cfg" as a line, and when i boot up half-life 2, nothing is different (even though it says "execing custom.cfg" in the console), i can type in exec custom in the console and it will work. my custom cfg file contains code from the skill.cfg, and i noticed that skill.cfg is execing after custom.cfg, so it overrrides it. how can i set it so custom.cfg is execed last, or set it so skill.cfg doesnt exec?
Could it be the execs are loaded in alphabetical order? Try naming yours zcustom.cfg and see what happens. If nothing happens, name it skill.cfg.
with it named zcustom.cfg it just does the same as before, and with it named skill.cfg it just uses the one from the gcf file
I'd suggest then to add a line to your autoexec and bind a key to exec custom. I just noticed in your first post you're typing "exec custom.cfg" when "exec custom" is enough.
thats what ive been doing up to this point, you have to do it every time the game loads a new section though...
