I have never moded halflife 2. its format is new to me. there isn't an orinised editing program. The games coding is much diferan't from doom 3. the last time i tryed to edit it, it didn't work so well. i couldn't move all the objects were missing and i had to load maps by console. Is there a complete source mod? something that has all the halflife 2 files in working condition and compiled just as the complete game. and editable halflife 2 single player in simple terms. i can't get it right on my own, always missing objects and no maps.

I plan to do a weapons and other things mod. change the weapon settings, ammo, damage, models and more. such as adding a usable alyx gun. i have absolutely no idea how to do some of this. i understand all the script files ( the h and cpp adn its txt). the thing is all the values seem to be 0. it makes it much harder is i have to set everything and i have no idea what the original values are. from hl2_gamerules.ccp the weapons entries are like this ConVar sk_plr_dmg_smg1 ( "sk_plr_dmg_smg1","0", FCVAR_REPLICATED ); ConVar sk_npc_dmg_smg1 ( "sk_npc_dmg_smg1","0", FCVAR_REPLICATED); ConVar sk_max_smg1 ( "sk_max_smg1","0", FCVAR_REPLICATED);

i have no idea what it should look like. When your making a modefyed half life 2 it should be an exact copy of the game bur all he data should be raw so you can change all the things. if you run the game you have all the options of normal halflife 2 but all your changed stuff is in effect. thats the way it should/could be. i looked at the tuts and they said i need the Microsoft Visual C++ .NET 2003 v7.1. i think that is an XP program. i haven't a clue how to work with this.
