I have got some half-life 2 .mdl files, is there anyway I open them up in a program like 3d Studio max and modify them?
its a little more complicated than that. what you need is a MDL decompiler get it here: http://www.chaosincarnate.net/cannonfodder/cftools.php once you've decompiled it you will have all the files which made it up; reference smds, physics smds, animation smds, and vmt and vmf files for the textures. the smd files you can import into 3dsmax with the right plugin and the vmf files can be decompiled again to give you tgas which you can edit or whatever.
hey i have a problem when i use gcfscape and export some of the mdl files i use the mdl decompiler but when it tries to export a mdl file it only answers unable to load d.......combine_strider.dx80.vtx no reference decompile
