does anyone get long compile times when they compile a map? i got a 40min 13sec maybe im doing it wrong could some1 tell me the steps to compile because it if taeks that long for a very small area then i wont be maping for hl2 anymore system specs: 2.7 Ghz 512 megabytes 128 radeon 9800 pro
Well, aparently if you get long compile times, this game does not bost a real time lighting system, the BSPing of the .map to a BSP doesnt take long at all, its when you get to the VIS (ie lighting) Which in all games takes a very long time to compile, well, depending on the size of the map anyway. if it was like Doom3's real time lighting, then it wouldnt do VIS, it would just do the lighting in real time, as you are playing the game, as in doom 3, well, i dont have HL2 yet, cause my comp sucks, But i map for games like CoD, and it takes a while to do lighting there, so that is just why i beleive you have long compile times. Its normal, dont worrie about it.

ok well how do i make it into a .bsp i compile it, but then it doesnt cahnge into a bsp when i look to move it to the maps folder to play it is not in bsp format and i cant play it
never mind figured out what the probelm was
