I wrote this awhile back. You would play as a squad of 101st Airborne paratroopers sent with an Allied task force on a battle across the solar system to retake Earth. It has some elements of Battlestar Galactica and Star Wars, but it is still pretty cool :). I: Prelude It is the year 2039. Humanity is at a both technological and social high point. After the capture of infamous terrorist and mass-murderer Osama bin Laden in 2018, the various countries of the UN (including the United States, still the world's most powerful nation) "saw the light" and worked together to at least try to make a better Earth. Well, all that trying must have payed off, because they did create a better Earth, a much better Earth. The world was not one united country, but most, if not all, of the world's nations worked together on issues ranging from HIV to Global Warming. Speaking of which, a vaccine for HIV was successfully tested in 2020, and distribution started late in that year. By 2039, the disease was all but wiped out, contained only in a few select and secure laboratories to be retrofitted to fight cancer cells. Global Warming, another nasty potential cause of Armageddon, was seriously degraded when major users of the world's energy (North America and Europe) officially switched over to Hydrogen and Hydrogen-powered fuel cells as their primary source of power. Internal combustion engines were phased out and by 2039, IC engines are pretty much extinct, except for some that were modified to combust Hydrogen, such as those on restored aircraft from previous time periods such as the famous Cadillac of the Skies, the P59 Mustang. All current consumer vehicles such as cars and trucks are now driven by powerful new electrical motors which derive their power from the already mentioned hydrogen fuel cells. Nanotechnology (the manipulation of individual atoms to strengthen structures) has also evolved rapidly, producing super-efficient fuel cells, super-powerful computers that had many terabytes (1 Terabyte=1024 Gigabytes, or 1 trillion Bytes) of RAM without using silicon chips (which reached their technological limits by 2015), golf balls that actually flew straight, and much, much more. Mars had also been colonized, along with it's two moons, Phobos and Demos, which had been turned into naval bases and were homes to the space fleets of various countries. The Martian landscape had been terraformed to allow human inhabitation without the need for protective gear. In the middle of all of this advancement was the creation of the Autonomi, a machine race with a versatile software engine, capable of doing many tasks. When an Autonomi came out of the factory, it posseses only basic motor functions, and has to be uploaded with a program for a specific task (translation - they are customizable). These programs can range from anything from picking up the garbage to riot control. In other words, specific companies bought Autonomi drones and then uploaded them with specific job programs. The buyers also possesed "Terminator" switches which, when pressed, would shut down one or more Autonomi, depending on the company. There was no central control facility, to avoid what is known as the "Bastille Syndrome", which basically is a machine rebellion ala The Matrix. Of course, the government also did background checks on the buying companies. All of them usually have some legitamate purpose for this most extroardinary invention. Ah, if only Isaac Asimov could see this! However, there is a dark side.... A satan-worshipping cult, the Disciples of Lucifer (DOL for short. Membership is about 100,000 people worldwide) had followers in very prominent positions, most notably in the programming departments for the various companies that manufacutured the autonomi, and programming departmants in the companies that bought them. On September 1st, 2039, an autonomi-assisted rebellion overran Ireland, then Scotland, then Wales, and then England. Within three hours, there were men and women in black robes sitting in the seats of Parliament. Britain had been overrun. The Prime Minister and the Royal Family had been evacuated to America, where they were being sheltered for the time being. Similar rebellions were going on all over Europe, and all over the world. The leaders and most of the earth-based militaries of Germany, Austria, Russia, Spain, Italy, Austrailia, Japan, the United States, and Canada borded shuttles to the closest Space Naval Base, the Moon. Before boarding a quickly-arranged fleet of deep-space transport ships, war ships, and carriers, they were witness to humanity's worst nightmare, a human-assisted execution of the dreaded Bastille Syndrome. They watched as their beloved planet was overrun by the unholy autonomi and the satanic hordes. Then, as quickly as they came, they left. However, even though all of the leaders had made it off of the moon, a few ships did not. These included many transport and assault (TA) vessels, a significant number of both heavy and light Space Destroyers, and, most importantly, the carrier U.S.S. Enterprise (her sister ship, U.S.S. Yorktown, had made it off the moon). These ships were then staffed by DOL personell, giving them important pieces in an interplanetary chess game. Oddly, however, they were not giving pursuit to the escaping Fleet. But they knew their destination... Mars.

Patience is a virtue. Just give it some time. Most people are going through finals and have no time to brouse the forums, let alone joining a mod. Once summer vacation starts, we'll see more activity around here.;)

I have web design skills and am a mapper, but I have very little time to do much because of Command and Conquer: Source (still in development)
