I'm new to modding, so Half Life 2 is probably a bit ambitious but I am thinking of maybe making a mod (obviously) but being new I don't really know where to start. I've been playing games for years so I know a lot of the jobs, and I know I need to try and assemble a team of people to work of various areas such as mapping, modelling, skinning and others. I was just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction, give me tips, basically all advice and help is MOST APPRECIATED!!!! Thank you all for any help you can offer me Tatws
From what I have seen nobody likes a leader that doesn't know anything and has no skills in any area. So I would suggest you get a skill so you are more then a team leader.
Yeah, I have previously made maps for other games, and I'm not going to be a sole team leader, some friends in my clan have skills in modelling and so forth and we are going to work jointly if we do this. But I was hoping for some tips more based upon actually making the mod, tutorials maybe? something like that, but this advice is good too, thanx, I'll brush up my mapping skills.
Well, I wouldn't know of actual tips towards making a mod other then be original and creative. Although people do like war like mods and monster shooter ones. Do what you want just make it have a new feel from others like it.
Thank you for the support. If I do end up getting this mod off the ground I hope it does get completed to a good quality. However, I don't know how to make it, ie coding, or what order things need to be done, I'm guessing I probably only know half the stuff that needs to be done :S so if anyone has had past experience in modding groups, could they please share any amounts of wisdom.
If you've done mapping, why don't u work towards being a good mapper and joining one of about 400 Half-Life 2 Mods in production?!
I don't spend enough time here
