When I open models in the hl2 model viewer (from source sdk), the models are saved as .mdl files. I've tried opening these files in SOFTIMAGE XSI, but they aren't even in the folder. I found out that the files in SOFTIMAGE need to be .emdl files. How do you change .mdl files (such as the ones already in hl2) to .emdl files? Thanks.:)

the mdl files are stored in the GCF files that Steam uses. I don't know about softimage, but you should get gcfscape (google it) and unpack 'm somewhere (like on your desktop).
