Week ago while searching Steam User Forums I've stumbled across some posts mentioning this modification. It occured to be pretty interesting, intereting enough to be the second mod I have ever downloaded for Half-Life 2 as I usualy don't play many mods. Sorry if this has been mentioned in some threads before, but after searching I'm certain that unless there was no thread dedicated to this modification. Missing Information team is planning to recreate Half-Life 2 as it was supposed ot be in early VAVLe's concepts, using what seems to be hl2 beta version to some extent. Since this mod exists from a while I guess that their work is not illegal. Current release includes dropped Half-Life 2 chapter 'Borealis' and E3 presentation, smae shown to the world in 2003. Both of those seem to be reworked and not be levels directly from beta as they use a bit different content and setup, but still all the gameplay mechanics and scripts remain. I played it and have to admit that these levels have very nice atmosphere and enjoyable (very strictly scripted though in case of presentation) gameplay. So here you go, link to the mod download: http://files.filefront.com/SEARCH/;4795599;;/fileinfo.html
Sounds cool, downloading now.
Indeed it is. And here's a hint, while playing Borealis and coming to the point where you meet Odell (old version of colonel Odessa Cubbage) again kill all enemys and go through the level as quickly as possible. For me it crashes very often and quicker after every single loading.
I just downloaded it and installed. How do I play this? Its not in my Games list and I tryed looking the maps in console and no luck. Where has it installed it?
It normally appeares in Steam games list. If it doesn't you might try running the installation program again, it should initiate uninstallation and then install again. It has to appear in games list since it's normal separate mod.
Cool. No crashing problems for me. I thought Odell looked like Cubbage... The E3 demo is great fun!
Odell was the original charachter but when Borelais was cut out of the game he was changed to the colonel Odessa Cubbage, with some little texture modifications, change of clothes and voice and ofcourse purpose. I think that in his present state he's much more interesting and amusing charachter.
"Oh yes, what what, Colonel Odessa Cubbage..." Yes... amusing...
pvt. AllenIt normally appeares in Steam games list. If it doesn't you might try running the installation program again, it should initiate uninstallation and then install again. It has to appear in games list since it's normal separate mod.
I figured out that the install program had installed it in the defult Program Files folder, which on my machine is the folder for 64Bit programs. I changed it to Program Files (x86) and now works fine. Thanks for your suggestion.
Who are the makers of Missing information? I'd like to see their website...
