Nice sig by the way... UHF.. Funny Film..
I'll give it a shot for ya
Ok I tested it out for you. First, the loading bar is off in timing, it instantly went to around 98% and sat there for a while, uintil the map loaded. No big deal though ;)
Then I have attached a few screenshots for ya. The red Water looks awesome. But it is see through, shoing a few map flaws. Like the bridge, the supports don't go down fard enough and it looks like it is floating. Also right on the side of the main US spawn, the floor under the water cuts out and there is just empty space. I found a few odd bands of shadow that didn't belong to anything. I guess the only other thing is that the NVA has all US vehicles and copters, except for the cars.
Other than those, its a fine map!! Don't forget to submitt it to BFVFiles.com (when we finally open :( )
Points taken NoOdLe... will work on them as and when I get the chance. The NVA vehicles in Battlecraft are dire compared to the US ones and I didn't want an uneven game balance. As for the bridge struts, I ain't got time to build custom models , I'll probably just reduce the clarity of the water. Finally, I only used the high setting in battlecraft for the shadow generation (and that took a hell of a long time) mainly because I'll probably end up moving stuff around and would just have to re-generate them. When I'm happy with the finished map I'll use the Production quality shadow generation. In general.. battlecraft is good, but limited (hopefully a patch will sort it).... I may try mapping using 3dsmax instead. Cheers for the comments... theyre gratefully recieved.
I liked the red water, it took some getting used to but in the end it spiced up the map and gave it character. On top of what was already mentioned (bridge supports etc...) I felt that the map had a bit too much empty ground. Kind of above the US start and the temple if I remember correctly. I played LAN w/ some friend (7 of us) and general concensus was that some extra cover, burned out vehicles, maybe a small population center, be added to all that green. The map also got hung up a bit every few seconds (maybe cause of the size?) which was odd b/c at least on my PC BF 'Nam maps have run great so far. Overall it is a respectable map, just trying to point out what could be worked on (or what I noticed). Certainly can't go wrong contributing to the community :)
Unfortunately... Battlecraft wouldn't allow any more objects to be added, so short of removing stuff and replacing it with vegetation or burned out wrecks, there's not much I can do... If anyone wants to have a mess about with it in battlecraft then please feel free and let me know how it goes....
