I think the THREE things EA SHOULD do to help encourage teamwork in BFV are: - REWARD POINTS for repairing vehicles and healing teammates. Honestly... what is the point of the engineer if you just repair a vehicle for someone so they can take off and get another 30 kills while you get nothing but the personal satisfaction of keeping them active? - REWARD KILLS for assists. If I'm driving the artillery vehicle and someone else is in the gun, we should BOTH get the kill point. If two guys shoot an enemy and eventually kill him they should get partial credit. - RANK SYSTEM. Nothing proves how valuable you really are to a team than if you have a rank system. An engineer that does awesome repair/destruction work but gets little to no kills should still be gaining points. Now all these ideas are NOT exactly original. There was a mod for the original UT that gave the assist points if you killed people chasing the flag runner in CTF. The other two ideas come directly from RTCW:ET. I think a game like BFV could benefit from at least the first one (reward actions) to help people act more like a team.
:agree: i'm with padre... its stupid cuz if you an engineer and you're fixing a vehicle, someone is bound to run up and take it..... you should get to kill people for that.... i got banned from bf1942 servers a lot...
I'm not saying you should go on some killing spree because someone takes your ride, I just think that if you spend the time to repair a friendly vehicle that someone else is already driving around in you should be rewarded. You should be rewarded for healing your teammates. I mean... why share your medpack at all if you get nothing out of it? Sure, you helped keep someone in the game, but unless they're running with you to cover your butt there's no benefit. And I'll admit, when I'm rolling around in BF1942 and I just get the M7 where I want and some jackass hops in and either moves me or tries to take over as gunner - I'll unleash all four ExPacks on the vehicle. They should have made the M7 a one-man vehicle since the driver doesn't share in the kills the gunner gets.
yeah i used to play Return To Castle Wolfenstein Enemy Territory, and i have to say the system they used was GREAT, i loved the xp, and getting promoted, and raising your skills, so you could heal ppl faster, get dual guns, etc. It would be great if they could include all of that, but they won't (although i've had my fingers crossed for a LONG time that someone would make a mod like that). my point is, i agree with you. One note though: it shows that they tried to make ppl work together by making the spawn capture times smaller as more people crowd around, but all those retards who just care about getting the heli and blowin stuff up with it don't care about capping points, and they'd rather "let someone else do it for them". that's why it's great to play with a clan :nodding:
CTF has the most teamwork. but EA and DICE thought it would be better to put in these 2 new stupid ass modes that arent fun. if you want teamwork then they need to bring back CTF.
I've been interested in joining a clan, but I am apprehensive. I guess it's just this guy I've heard talking about it that turns me off to it. In short, it's his super-dedicated garbage he always talks about that makes me want to stay away from them. He curretly plays for about 5 hours everyday, and I know he spends whole weekends playing the same game. His last clan played non-stop with practice matches every day, people getting assigned specific duties, there was a big pseudo-RP element... blah blah blah. I'm just not up for all that. And maybe I'm turned off to the way he seems to use the clans as his new friend list. Oh and the drama... just like a soap opera. Maybe it's just him and his clan... I don't know. Maybe I'll give a clan a shot...
Oh yeah and I'll have to give you that - EA did make it somewhat more team-based since the point captures go faster with more people at a location, but really it doesn't mean people are sticking together. They're just all meeting up at a flag at about the same time to capture and go back to their own business. I'm not really sure how they could almost force people to work together in any other way except maybe with assists or saves. If an enemy is shooting at one of your teammates and you kill the enemy before he kills your teammate you should get some sort of 'save' point. And yeah I know it's not all about the points, but, for example, it sucks being an engineer keeping people/armor alive only to be shafted by the point system.
if they want team work they need to take off the scoreboard. the scoreboard takes total controll of us. we want to see our names show up on the BEST PLAYERS list when the game is over. we want to go off by ourselves on the map and just rack up a bunch of kills and not care about outposts (mostly when in planes) they need to make tanks have like 4 people to controll them. 1 drives it 1 moves the turret 1 is a gunner and mabe one more could help do something. but as for CTF people will work as a team to try to get a flag. or they need an objective bassed map
I agree team work should be an essential part of this game, but its hard to get people to work together. I admit i go out on my own as a sniper, but i try to support my team if they call for help, or give them sniper support when they go for a flag. Sometimes as a sniper i wish i could a spotter (assult or heavy assult) to acompany me as i roam around the outskits of the map, because i always run into VC or patrols of VC that i can not take on at close range. Sometimes I can toss some smoke grenades and evade but it would be nice to have some cover fire from my spotter. I also fly a transport chopper, which i land to let people off, and it would be nice to have an engineer aboard fixing the copper when it gets hit by enemy fire. I've done this my self, ridding a transport huey and fixing it as we fly, it keeps us up in the air much longer and allows us to stick around for support or go get more people to bring in to the fight. The only team work i usually see is when everyone connerges on a capture point, or i see the VC sticking together and using teamwork since they have lesser fire power and need team work to win.

This is the key reason I'll go M60 or CAR-15 and accompany a sniper in my squad. I'll follow just behind him, use binoculars (if I have them) to help him spot targets or possible problems. We're both in TeamSpeak, so I can instantly (despite TS lag) tell him where the targets/problems are. I can think of a few times, recently, where this paid off for both of us. One time in particular we were helping take the checkpoint on Ia Drang. We were north of the point, on a hill. Sniper was a few meters ahead of me. I spotted an NVA soldier sneaking up on him getting ready to knife him. Pistol stopped that guy dead. We make the quick decision to move since now they knew we were there - well at least one of them knew - and ran into about 4 or 5 of them running along the side of the road. Sniper can't fight well at close range, so he dropped to prone and whipped out his pistol while I knelt and laid into them with the M60. As for working as a team, three of us from my squad all went engineer on Operation Flaming Dart. We took a PBR over to the western island, made our way to the first NVA airbase and used C4 to take out the tower just as the MiG respawned. I tossed some C4 on that and blew it up as well, then we headed to the second airbase. The two of them took out the tower while I ruined the Mi-8's, then we made a b-line to the third tower. Only twice did any of us die while taking these out, and once I died because of lag*. There's my quick BFV War Stories for ya, but it illustrates the truth behind 'working as a team' paying off. It's just too bad you don't get rewards for doing something rather vital like destroying the tower. *No seriously. My ping was about 60 the whole map until something screwy happened to my cable connection and I had a ping of 1080. I was half in a bush and only able to spin 90 degrees every few seconds. NVA got me after the 1st tower blew up.
