I bought half life 2 on ebay and when I try to enter the CD key, Steam tells me it is already in use and i will have to pay them ten bucks for a new CD key. I sent the guy i bought it from an email asking him if there is a way that he could delete his steam half life 2 account so i could play. He hasnt replyed yet and I am wondering if I should just cut my loses and go ahead with getting a new key??? ---CrapshootBob---
Guy you bought Half-Life 2 from should have given you his account information on wich this copy of Half-Life 2 was registered. If he didn't you may consider yourselve as deceived. Bartering with registered games and accounts is not allowed by suer agreements with VALVe as far as I know, so I don't think you can do much besides leaving negative comments about that dude on eBay. I think you'll have to buy new Half-Life 2.:(

Just buy a new one.. It wont be worth trying to get the account.. cause it's probably not gonna happen... So yea.. dont buy games from ebay unless if you are sure that they are brand new in the package unopened.. now you have learned your lesson
wow that was easy, i just emailed them and they reset the CD key, i geuss i lucked out...
Do not ever buy from anyone else except in the stores and or from Steam online. Once you use your key with a steam account, the key gets merged with It's steam account. After that, you can never use the key anymore,
