I can not seem to play new, custom HL2: DeathMatch maps. I get the following error message AFTER the map downloads to my machine from the game server: "Your map [MAP_NAME_HERE] differs from the server's"

I've tried everything I can thing of (included searching several forums and google.com) without a solution. I've also reinstalled steam on top of itself as well as uninstalling my complete Steam directory and redownloading and installing its content.

The map finishes downloading from the game server I'm trying to connect to, then I get the error message. Further, if I try to reconnect to the same server, the same error contiunues.

The files are in fact in my /maps/ dirctory. They're there; they are just not taken.

This happens on any custom map server.

I can, however, play the two official Valve maps.

The only possible issues I can think of are 1) Steam is not installed on the default directory; it's installed on E:/Steam. Installing Steam on my C: Drive is not an option 2) My linksys router my be messing with the connections, some how (I've tried an older version of firmware as well as the latest).

Any ideas?

Thanks for your time and help!

you could delete the map files, then it should download them from the server. It's not that you put it on annother drive, i have it on D: so...

Thanks, but that doesn't work either. I've tried that many times, as well. I didn't think to add that info., however.

I've also installed all four map packs and get the same errors.

Thanks again!
