Anyway, I bought the retail version of Half-Life 2 and when I installed it with Steam and registered my CD Key I got the message that my video drivers were out of date every time I wanted to play...well, I decided to try it without the update (since I have dial-up, and the update is 17 MB), it worked without the update, but then a serious problem happened in the game, so I updated...now guess what? Every time I want to play all I get is a black screen after Steam tells me "preparing to play Half-Life 2", this black screen lasts for excrusiatingly (spelling?) long periods of time (it appears as if the moniter is turned off), the light is yellow instead of green, but I don't know if it means anything. The driver I have is the nVidia GeForce 420 if that helps.

OK, actually Half-Life 2 is running without the video (I know because I can hear the ambient sounds that play in the main menu). But I don't know why it cannot display the video...

This is very important and I would appreciate some help...
