so i can play HL2:EP2 on med/high settings with 50 FPS not a big deal but then when it gets to 2 certain parts in the game (the part where the vorts are refivin alex and the g-mans talken) and the very end where those bug things show up when were goin to the heli it would go from a cool easy 50 to a terriable, sad 1 FPS im guessing its just a computer problem?, but i dont understand how i can have 50 FPS easy during the game, but those 2 spots it drops down reallll low help?

What are your computer specs? What OS? Etc. We need more information.

And you say you get 50 FPS........with only half a gig of RAM and a X300 se? Wow you're crazy.

50 fps or not, the reason for your system slowing down is because of a change that occurs in 2 spots (from what I can remember), which brings everything into a "slow motion". In order for this to not stutter video and audio the framerate increases. Basically the higher the framerate the slower a video can go without stuttering. If you're using a lower end system the initiation of these scenes can hault your computer, because you can't get a high enough framerate, so your game goes into "slow motion" AND lags giving you those 1 frame moments. Having had the same problem my only solutions are:

1. Upgrade your computer to at least a gig of ram, and a new graphics card. 2. As soon as the stuttering starts, press esc. to go to the menu and save your game (may take a long time to load), then, exit your current game and load the saved one. You may miss a word or 2 said but it should otherwise solve your problem.

Hope I helped :)

Ok dude i had the same problem, what i had to do is increase my heapsize!

You can do this by right clicking on Half life 2:EPS 2 in the Steam window under the games tab and clicking Properties>Set Launch Options> -heapsize 500000 (the 500000 depends on how much ram you got i put 500000 cause you have 512 ram so you should put 500000) and make sure you put a space before the - in -heapsize.
