I recently tried to play Half-Life 2. But there is a problem. It dont work now for some f**kin reason. This is what it says when I go to play HL2 or Garry's mod "Steam has found a problem with your local game files. game files will now be re-acquired from the steam servers." That is wierd. All my other games work, CSS, HL2DM, HLS. What the hell do I do? This s**t has been going on for a f**kin week. Help me PLZ!!! :(
all i can think of is well i know your not going to like this but id say reinstall
It has a problem installing now, it cant find one of the files, it says i have to prove it exists. Can I uninstall HL2 then re-install it? I would but i'm worried about CD key issues. You know that when I uninstall it and reinstall it I will put in my key and it will say that Steam already has that key as a registered key.
it wont ask for the key again. I recently reinstalled steam completely, and when I logged in to steam, it knew I had hl2, I just had to verify files.
Wait, i'm not talking about reinstalling Steam. I'm talking about uninstalling Half-Life 2 and reinstalling it and keeping Steam. Will steam ask for a key when I reinstall Half-Life 2 to my comp?
No. It will see that you already have hl2 associated with that account, and all you have to do is reaquire game files.
Ok, thanks again
