Hi, I recently purchased the Orange Box because I've been wanting to play Episode 2 of Half-Life 2. My computer specs are all what they should be according to the requirements on the box (Video card, etc.), and it installed perfectly (I also have had Steam for a long time now). So anyway, my problem is that I can play through the opening and I can get all the way up to the first Gman cutscene, but at that time the cutscene starts to skip and shows up at like .1 FPS (To clarify, First you can see Alyx on the table, then about 10 seconds later, it jumps ahead to where gman is in his office, then 10 more seconds it's just a white screen while he's teleporting you and it's just frozen inbetween). The audio gets crappy and eventually skips out. The cutscene can play entirely through like shit, and then the game resumes, but it's still skipping and I can't play it until I give the 3 finger salute, shutting it down manually. Any Help with this? I did a search and I couldn't find any other problems like this. If you need any additional info, then tell me please.

Well, for one, its not a cutscene, its still in the eyes of Gordon. What windows are you running, do you have any mods for the game, do you have the latest version of driver?
The reason for your system slowing down is because of a change that occurs in 2 spots (from what I can remember), which brings everything into a "slow motion".This gets complicated when it is not prerendered or a "cut scene". In order for these scenes to not stutter video and audio the framerate increases. Basically the higher the framerate the slower a video can go without stuttering. If you're using a lower end system the initiation of these scenes can hault your computer, because you can't get a high enough framerate, so your game goes into "slow motion" AND lags giving you those 1 frame moments. Having had the same problem my only solutions are: 1. Make sure your graphics card is compliant with the features in Half life 2.(especially the capability of high end real time rendering) 2. Update your graphics card with its latest driver. 3. As soon as the stuttering starts, press esc. to go to the menu and save your game (may take a long time to load), then, exit your current game and load the saved one. You may miss a word or 2 said but it should otherwise solve your problem. Hope I helped :)

My computer is an XPS 400 running WIndows XP. Does Gmod count as a HL2 EP2 mod? If so, then yes I do. and I am currently checking my drivers for updates, so I'll edit this post with results soon hopefully. PS: ty, Genesis, but those didn't work
