Guys, I need some help. I bought a copy of Half Life 2 from Ebay, and now I've got it. It was shipped immediately. Really well, I might add. Steam won't let me register it, because it's already been registered by somebody else... What the fuck. I'm looking to find something that'll get me past this damned registration. I'm really starting to hate Steam. I've never registered a game in my life, and now I need to do so, in order to play the god-damned thing. I'm sorry, but I already BOUGHT it. I don't WANT to buy it again. Any help? Please? I'm pissed, and bummed at the same time. I'm sorry that it's not JK3 related, and I know it doesn't belong on this forum, but I need some help, and I don't know who to ask. Help? Please?

So basically you're asking us to help you pirate a game, even though prating is against the little contract you signed when you registered to the forum, and the law? Yeah, good luck.

Good idea as that may sound... I can't download that with my connection. I know Half-Life is a HUGE download, but... Eh... My connection peters out after 400 megs used per 2 days. Hughes Net SUCKS... Assholes limit us on how much bandwidth we use, and we pay 60+ bucks a month for shitty service. And we can't GET any other service... So, how the hell am I going to manage getting The Orange box on Steam? EDIT: Is there any way the seller can de-register his copy?

You should have gotten out of your house, gone to the store, and bought a real live copy of the game. And honestly, you put this in modding & editing? Really? I'll report it for you so they can move it to a forum where it actually belongs.

Steam games are permanently tied to the account they're registered to. There's no way to deactivate a Steam game, which is why it's illegal to resell them.

Well... Shit.

Guess I'll just have to buy it on steam, eh?

I have the option to buy it, but do I have to download it? Can I just get the Steam Key? It'll cost me 19 bucks...

Real quick, though... The orange box... All the stuff in there, do they have the same requirements as Half Life 2?

I'm looking to buy L4D also, and L4D2 for the PC.

Then Garry's Mod. But, still. Do they have the same requirements?

Lets just put it this way. Even if it's raining headcrabs, go get the Orange Box at Best Buy or something. If you can play one you can play them all. You can't say the same for Left 4 Dead, you need uber power to play that.

Garrys mod has the same requirements, however. The only thing i would worry about if I were you with L4D is the 3.00ghz cpu requirements and the 1GB RAM.

Aaaw... I wanted to mod L4D with Star Wars stuff and zombie stormtroopers!

I'm buying the orange box from amazon tomorrow. That's reliable, right?

My PC has a 1.6 GHz processor. The Orange box requires 1.7, but I definately have the ram and the memory. How do I increase my processor's power?

I think I can saftely run The Orange box on my PC. Maybe with a lower framerate than usual, but it can't be that bad! It's not like I intend to play Team Fortress 2. I hate class based stuff, really.

Half Life could be run pretty well, I guess. I can run Empire At War on full, and so on.

Is it wierd that I found Lamar kinda' cute?

Um.... OK.

Download some more :naughty:

But really, the only way to do it my friend is to buy a new processor. You can get a 2.8 one I think? for $80.

Half Life, Team Fortress and Portal aren't like Crysis or something so don't worry about processing lag when you get maybe a cheap 2.0 or something. I wouldn't worry about framerate issues either, I play almost full settings with my Nvidia GeForce 6200 and I don't have FPS bad enough to ruin gameplay.
