Okay, this is a particularly odd problem that I can't figure out for the life of me. My microphone works fine, and I've tested it with a program in Windows and even recorded a sound clip and played it back - all works perfectly. The volume levels and everything are all the way up on my sound card control software and the voice recorder software recognizes my sound card as the microphone processor. When I go into any source-based Steam game, my mic never works. I can go to the Voice tab and test the microphone and I hear myself just fine. When I hit the button to talk in a game and ask "Can anyone hear me?" when other people who are speaking are on no one ever replies and I am as close to the mic when I tested it as I was when I hit the talk button. I see the icon light up on screen so it knows I'm hitting the button but apparently no one can hear me. This is the only program it doesn't work with and I don't understand it. Can anyone provide some insight as to what the problem is?
Well If you can hear yorself just fine then other people should here you just fine. It can also be joining a High Latency Server. Try typing "Can You hear my Mic?" after talking in it in-game.
Yeah, that was what I was beginning to think I should've done. I get too used to people being jerks and no one saying they heard me even though they really did...I'll give that a shot, I only join servers with low pings and I always have a double digit ping.
